THE Office of Rural Development (ORD) was impressed with the implementation of district services improvement programme (DSIP) for Karamui-Nomane district in Chimbu.
ORD manageress in the Highlands 1 region, Anna Bae, commended Karamui-Nomane MP Posi Menai and his district management team headed by district administrator Joe Nopro.
“Although Karamui does not have any road network and is only accessible by air, the quality of buildings for health, education and transport infrastructures comply with the requirements, and we are really impressed,” Bae said.
She commended the local contractors engaged to build classrooms, houses for teachers and public servants, aid posts and health centre for complying with the required designs.
Bae told a huge crowd of people that gathered at Negabo health centre that Karamui-Nomane was one of the remote flying districts but has performed exceptionally well in terms of DSIP implementation.
Bae was surprised to see a new high quality maternity ward constructed for Negabo health centre and commended local construction company Dubero Building Construction and director Francis Kakole.
Bae and ORD chief engineer and technical adviser Marus Gemo were satisfied with the implementation of DSIP stating that the contractors engaged have done well despite the hardship of flying materials from Goroka and Kundiawa towns.
They were accompanied to Negabo, Bomai, Salt, Nomane and Karamui by Menai on a helicopter to visit DSIP project sites.
They commended Menai for ensuring that every corner of Karamui-Nomane benefited from the DSIP fund.
