ORION Project Services (OPS) has signed a multimillion kina deal with national flag carrier  Air Niugini for the provision of personnel movement in support of Orion’s activities with the PNG LNG project and other major clients.

The agreement signing between Air Niugini and Orion recently saw the creation of a mini-travel unit at Orion’s head office at Defence Haus in Port Moresby.

Orion general manager Allen Tyson said the deal signing was a momentous day and strategically positions OPS to allow further functionally and higher levels of customer services to their major clients.

The agreement would allow Air Niugini to provide ongoing technical support and familiarisation training to Orion staff.

Tyson also said the contract is an indication of OPS support for PNG and ensures revenue generated from major projects such as LNG remains in PNG through utilising local business such as  the national carrier.

Staff from Orion can make, retrieve, change and cancel bookings and issue tickets on Air Niugini and partner airlines on a first come, first served basis.

Air Niugini will provide systems for the travel unit with ongoing technical support and all necessary accountable documents to allow Orion to issue airline tickets.

All access and functions in using the system will be overseen by a sales coordinator located in the Port Moresby travel centre.
