ORO country netball and Higaturu touch football associations have secured sponsors in Port Moresby to stage their tournaments in Sohe, Northern, next year.
OCNA founder Phyllis Deboa- Ami and Ronnie Oivo of HTFA will announce the sponsorship package in Popondetta.
Deboa Ami said the Oro netball tournament would be staged at Siroga near Popondetta during the Easter weekend from April 7- 9 next year.
She said local teams Sangara, Mumuni, Kiorota, Hohorita, Hamara, Ilimo, Kokoda, Oro Bay, Gona Holy Cross were expected to take part in the tournament.
Deboa-Ami said the association, which would affiliate with the PNG Netball Federation, would select its senior and junior team for the 2013 national championships.
The two associations agreed at a meeting in Port Moresby to develop and promote netball, touch football and volleyball in the Sohe district, which had a lot of young and raw talent.
Association officials Lincoln Laura and Terry Agembo have been tasked to coordinate touch football and volleyball among the rural based players.
Country netball and Higaturu touch football will also make a submission to Oro Governor Gary Juffa and Sohe MP Delilah Gore to allocate funds for training and development programmes.
