Oro group raising funds for fest

PAPUAN Waria people, from Northern, are raising funds for their Poro Bui festival in September.
Locally referred to as Poro, the sacred instrument players from Orouba village, Papuan Waria participated in the recent Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture.
They were accompanied by their traditional fire maker.
The group showcased their traditional arts and crafts during the two weeks festival.
It was the first time for most of the traditional performers to travel to Port Moresby to participate in the event.
The performers thanked the National Culture Commission for giving them the opportunity to participate and showcase their culture and traditions.
The group thanked Northern Governor Gary Juffa and his National Capital District counterpart Powes Parkop for providing
them with financial assistance and food.
