ORO Touch Association is crying foul over its suspension and plans to appeal against the decision by the PNG Touch Federation.
The federation had suspended the association and the players for three years because they were alleged to be involved in a brawl against Central during the national championships in Port Moresby.
Popondetta town mayor Botti Robinson claimed some players and fans from the association were among others who assaulted match referees and damaged properties during the tournament.
An executive from the association said “the decision was totally unfair and bias” because not all players were involved in the brawl during the championships.
The official, who did not want to be named, said the national body should only suspend those implicated rather than the association and some innocent players.
He said most of these players were youths who had been involved with the game since the competition was introduced in the early 1990s.
The association has produced some quality players who are threat to other players from more established associations like Port Moresby, National Capital District, Lae and Madang.
The decision could also affect promising stars Farapo Makura, Lincoln Laura, Kelly Gewa and others who are part of the PNG squad.
The official is appealing to the federation to reconsider its decision for the future of the players and the sport in the province.
