Oro working to rebuild PHA

Northern Governor Gary Juffa says the provincial government is working towards restructuring and rebuilding the provincial health authority (PHA).
Juffa told The National that there were some issues with the PHA management and board which he says was not their fault.
“It’s just how the systems were designed or developed.
“We want to ensure that we have effective systems to manage issues like Covid-19 and other health issues including TB, Malaria,” he said.
Juffa said about K1 million was granted by Australia, New Zealand and the PNG governments to health.
“I will be talking to the minister for health to look at what else can be done to build other infrastructure that is required for Covid-19,” he said.
Juffa said the doctor’s issue had been sorted out and Department of Personnel Management was sorting their papers.
“When we have provincial executive meetings we want to look what we can do to build homes for the doctors to ensure that they have the facilities they need so they can serve the people of Oro,” Juffa said.
He said the former chairman Erick Mesak had left for Milne Bay so the provincial government was now in the process of reviewing the structure of the board.
