OK Tedi Development Foundation Ltd (OTDF) has launched its new website aimed at informing the world of the social and development issues confronting Western province and the opportunity that OTDF provides to address these issues.
The web site provides a mechanism to attract support for Western development programmes, either through philanthropic donations, giving materials such as school resources or sharing knowledge through volunteers with the appropriate skills.
The website www.otdfpng.org was launched on Aug 31.
OTDF chief executive officer Ian Middleton said its launching symbolised a significant milestone for OTDF as it rapidly evolved into being a key delivery vehicle.
Middleton said the website showcased the work OTDF was doing in partnership with the communities of the Western, especially the 156 villages along the Fly River corridor who benefited from the Ok Tedi Community Mine Continuation Agreements (CMCA).
He said the website would also help people with a snapshot of the social and developmental issues the province was experiencing while at the same time garnering support on how these issues can be addressed.
“OTDF has grown rapidly in the last two years and has an enormous obligation to address the dire social and developmental issues faced by the people of Western province,” Middleton said.
“I hope that this site provides an opportunity for interested individuals and organisations to work with us to deliver real change for these people.
“This site will inform key agencies in the country of the need for support, that there is a genuine delivery partner working on the ground level which also attracts donations from abroad with an assurance that their contributions will flow directly to those people that really need it.
