Our capital city an eyesore
The National – Friday, July 8, 2011
I WOULD like to commend RPNGC personnel and NCDC staff for cleaning up the Gordon market and surrounding area.
This place has been an eyesore for years.
The economic growth presently experienced in our capital city is mainly fuelled by the LNG project.
The boom in resource development is attracting an influx of international investors, workers, financiers, scientists, etc.
The dirty and ugly state of our capital city is an embarrassment and give foreigners the impression of a backward country.
The city authorities and national government must get tough on people who behave like animals and throw rubbish anywhere and everywhere.
Those who are caught littering must be severely punished.
The NCD governor and NCDC should consider engaging members of the RPNGC and PNGDF to help them in the clean-up of the city each Saturday or Sunday morning.
