Our police do not deserve a pay rise

Letters, Normal

THE recent agreement signed between the police commissioner and the Police Association needs to be validated by the Public Service Department.
It seems the two parties did the deal with little or no proper professional consultation with the public service remuneration experts.
Whether the deal was done with or without consultation, it would be the biggest blunder in public service.
Where is the fairness in this?
While the police personnel may claim they are not well remunerated, they fail to realise that they are the only public servants to get 100% housing and vehicle access anywhere in PNG.
On top of that, they are provided with footwear and uniform.
In a nutshell, everything is provided for them.
I call on the public service minister to review the agreement and be fair to other public servants.
