Our soldiers do not run from trouble

Letters, Normal

I REFER to the letter “What a waste of funds” (The National, April 16).
The writer’s comments are childish and baseless.
How can the writer draw similarities between a security guard and a soldier?
Most security guards run and hide at the first sign of trouble but a soldier runs towards it, ready to defend our nation if need be.
So what if they are entitled to a free meal, they deserve it.
While we all sleep in our homes, our soldiers are out patrolling our land and sea borders at night often in harsh conditions.
I believe the writer has little or no knowledge of the great job our men and women do.
How can our soldiers  be classified as a waste of funds and be denied their meal?
Does freedom have a price?
