SECURITY company Kuima Security Services has finally called it a day after 12 years of providing security at the PNG University of Technology in Lae.

The company was farewelled last Sunday and security of the campus is now the responsibility of Uni-Force, the institution’s own security.

Assistant registrar Veronica Thomas thanked Kuima.

“The university has gone through many changes as you all know through the media which is good for development, without change we cannot move on,” she said.

Thomas reiterated that it was not an easy decision which the university management had made because security was the number one issue and Kuima provided a sense of protection for a good night’s sleep.

Managing director and the owner of Kuima Security Services Anton Kaupa said the university had not terminated the company’s contract but an agreement signed 12 years ago had lapsed this year.

Kaupa said that many changes had taken place.

“Kuima’s reputation in the campus has been seen by communities and stakeholders and therefore we are walking out in bright daylight with our heads held high,” he said.
