‘Outdoor classroom’ day celebrated to inspire learning

WORLD outdoor classroom day is an international campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play.
On May 23, schools around the world try to take lessons outdoors and prioritise playtime for children.
This year, many International Education Agency (IEA) schools joined outdoor learning activities along with about 1.7 million other children worldwide.
IEA’s director of Education Neal Mather joined the students and staff at Ela Beach Early Learning Centre (ELC) noting: “Outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature.
“Play, not only teaches critical life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity, but it is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.
“As a genuine international school system, international education agency is proud to be an institution that prides itself on providing quality education at an international standard for our students and teachers alike.”
Mather was joined by the principals of most IEA schools in the country who gathered at the International Education Agency head office in Port Moresby for their regular principals’ training.
The focus of their training was on quality school leadership.
It involved principals examining areas where they were most effective in bringing about the improvements of schools.
