Over 30 arrested, charged with possession of drugs
MORE than 30 suspects were arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drug at Hanuabada village, outside Port Moresby, last week, according to police.
Port Moresby station commander Chief Inspector Max Dogme said the suspects were arrested for alleged possession of marijuana and homebrew.
Dogme said there had been an increase in the consumption and sale of homebrew and marijuana in the village, leading to many illegal activities in communities.
“Most of these drug activities are happening in those places,” he said.
Dogme said the village was becoming the main illegal distribution area seeing that most of the suspects were living in the city but travelling there to buy the drug to sell for profit.
He said apart from the arrests there were no major incidents like robberies and car-jacking.
