THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will hold inquiries into various government departments this week starting today in Port Moresby.

PAC chairman John Hickey confirmed this yesterday.

Hickey said the committee was having a lot of trouble getting members of parliament to attend, adding that some MPs said they would but most of them were not interested to attend these important inquiries.

He said the committee would commence the inquiry starting today with the departments of finance and planning and monitoring.

“PAC will conduct inquiry into the Port Moresby General Hospital on Tuesday (tomorrow), Department of Lands and Physical Planning on Wednesday, National Housing Corporation on Thursday and Treasury on Friday.”

He said the committee would return in August and commence inquiry into Madang government, Department of Works, Central Supply and Tenders Board and Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd.

The PAC schedule would also cover New Ireland government with the finalisation of the annual report by October.
