THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football Union (PNGRFU)  yesterday announced the PNG women’s train-on squad to prepare for the Asia Pacific sevens series in Borneo next month (Oct 29-30).
A 20-member squad was selected from the National women’s rugby sevens club championships held in Port Moresby on Independence Day and was further trimmed to 16.
A new management team was appointed by the PNGRFU board at its general meeting on Saturday Sept 18.
John Larry is coach, Cecil Davani his assistant  and Esther Nombri is team manager.
All squad members are Port Moresby-based, being the only women’s rugby competition in the country, and will commence their campaign this afternoon at their first training session at the Murray Barracks ovals at 4.30pm.
The squad is Mathilda John (Harlequins), Cathy Keso (Harlies), Debbie Kaore (Harlies), Geua Larry (Defence), Dulcie Bomai (Harlies), Margaret Naua (Def), Iarowena Morofa (Brothers), Veronica Waula (Royals), Joan Wari (Def), Susan Kararau (University), Cassandra Sampson (Harlies), Ethel Karava (Bros), Patricia Torea (Univeristy), Lilian Mulaki (Def), Robyn Ravu (Harlies), and Mathilda Lavari (Chiefs).
