Pacific MMI appoints new chief executive

KARL Hamann has been appointed the chief executive officer of Pacific MMI, a national insurance company operating in PNG and the Pacific region.
Hamann took over last Tuesday, bringing more than 30 years of experience in insurance practice, working in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
He is from Sydney, Australia. He previously served as the chief executive officer for South Asia (QBE Insurance Singapore and Indonesia).
With a bachelor of commerce and an ANZIIF Fellowship, Hamann is experienced in leading major operational transformation such as setting up offshore centres, digitalising internal processes as well as product fulfilment and claims.
He has held senior industry roles such as president of the General Insurance Association of Singapore and chair of the Asean Insurance Council.
Board director Michael Makap said with his strong belief in teamwork, integrity and well-being, “we are very confident that Hemann is the right leader for PMMI”.
