WITH the Port Moresby Corporate Snooker season set to cue off in two weeks time the Pacific MMI Insurance poured in a timely K12,500 worth of sponsorship yesterday.
PMMI managing director  Wayne Dorgan said the sponsorship was part of a three-year contract which ends this year and was looking to furthering the partnership.
Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association (POMBSA) public relations officer John Chan said the PMMI Port Moresby Corporate Snooker Competition starts on Feb 28 and team nominations and registrations were now open until Feb 21.
Registrations fees are at K750 per team and K50 per player.
He urged teams to quickly get their registrations done with the nominated teams so that the organisers could sort out the players into appropriate grades.
POMBSA president  the Roger Wilson said the POMBSA was expecting another bumper season with additional teams to participate.
“We are expecting eight teams in each grade and have allowed a maximum of 10 teams in B and C grades.”
He sai d that the handicap rules remained the same as last year with 25 and lower in AGrade, 25-40 in B Grade and 40-60 in C Grade.
“However, only two with 10 or less handicap will be allowed in A Grade and only two with 25 and three 40 handicaps allowed in B Grade.
“The rest of the players will have to be 30 and 35 handicaps,” he added.
Wilson said the committee had also raised the dress standards so that it was uniform at all venues which would be the Car, Aviat and Port Moresby Country clubs.
