STAFF of Pacific Star Ltd yesterday underwent fire safety and protection drills.

Among those who turned up were female employees, including staff working at The National.

Sika Fire Protection senior sales and service personnel Willie Hitolo carried out the drills.

He conducted an hour’s theory session and another hour of an outdoor practical session with step-by-step demonstration in an open space.

“I have identified and changed the water extinguishers and foam extinguishers with dry chemical powder extinguishers to keep the buildings protected from all sorts of fires,” Hitolo said after an inspection of the premises.

“You must know how to exit. In real life situations, whenever a fire occurs in a residential area, business areas such as buildings, office or factories, people easily panic. It means they are prone to disaster.

“The most important and basic instruction would be: Do not panic, stay calm, relaxed and the first thing a person must do is know and find the nearest exit and then call for assistance,” Hitolo said.
