The blame game over who is responsible for the destruction of World War 11 bunkers and a Seventh Day Adventist Church on Paga Hill last Tuesday continues.

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop at the weekend steered clear of allegations that the NCDC was behind the destruction which, ironically, took place just a day before Remembrance Day.

Returned National and Supreme Court judge Mark Sevua last week fired a broadside at Parkop and others allegedly involved in the demolition of the SDA church and settlement homes on reclaimed land at Paga Point.

In a no-holds barred response to the demolition, Sevua blamed the NCDC, road contractor Curtain Brothers and Paga Hill Development Company (PHDC), which is developing a multi-million kina housing estate.

Chief executive officer of PHDC, Gudmundur Fridriksson responded quickly to Sevua’s attack with documentary evidence that his company was not responsible.

Curtain Brothers denied that it was in any way responsible for the destruction and that the NCDC was responsible.

Parkop, in a published statement, said work on the Paga Hill ring road would continue despite issues associated with settlers.

He said settlers on reclaimed land in the path of the ring road had been allocated land at Gerehu Stage 7.
