THE Paga Hill Development Company yesterday maintained that it was not responsible for the demolition of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and settlement homes on reclaimed land at Paga Point on Tuesday.

Company chief executive officer  Gudmundur Fridriksson was responding to National and Supreme Court judge Mark Sevua for blaming the National Capital District Commission, Curtain Brothers, and PHDC for the demolition.

He provided a copy of a notice to settlers about the Supreme Court decision of July 1, 2014, saying it had important implications for them, the development of Paga Hill Estate, as well as the construction of the National Capital District Commission and Curtain Brothers’ ring road. “As per the Supreme Court decision, implications differ depending on whether you reside within PHDC’s title or not,” the notice said.

“For those settlers living by the SDA church in the area marked below the boundary line, the Supreme Court has found that you are outside of PHDC’s title However, you remain within the planned path of the NCDC and Curtain Brothers’ ring road.

“We understand that NCDC and Curtain Brothers have now served you with a demolition notice.

“This demolition notice has nothing to do with PHDC, so we urge you to work with NCDC and Curtain Brothers to agree on a relocation solution.”
