MISS South Pacific Pageant made a special presentation of awards to the sponsors of the event yesterday at the Grand Papua Hotel.
MSPP media representative Alexandra Kalinoe thanked official sponsor National Gaming Control Board, gold sponsors Air Niugini and Moore Printing, silver sponsor Masalai Communications and bronze sponsors Lamana Developments and Trends Hair and Beauty.
Contestant sponsors who were also awarded included Hugo Canning, Steamships Trading Company, TST Group of Companies, Dekenai Construction, Sapphire Springs and Fresh Water.
“Today is the day we say thank you to you our sponsors for your money, this is where it all goes, and we hope you agree with us that it is money well spent,” Kalinoe said.
She said the MSPP PNG scholarship fund for girls awarded 63 scholarships to young women out from 680 applications they got from around the country.
“Each of our scholarships supports these girls in the second last or final year of tertiary education. In doing so, the total money we will spend is about K200,000.”
Miss South Pacific PNG Ruby Laufa thanked the sponsors for their contribution to the development of young PNG women.
“I thank you all for gathering here today to celebrate the achievement of our young women. I would like to encourage our women to stand firm in this male-dominated society,” Laufa said.
