Pageant partners institute to offer scholarships for women
THE Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) Papua New Guinea and the Institute of Business Studies University signed a memorandum of understanding in Port Moresby on Monday to offer K2 million worth of scholarships for young women.
The IBS founder’s scholarships will be from certificate level to degrees in accounting, business, information technology and human resource management.
MPIP PNG committee chairperson Molly O’Rourke said last year’s pageant was cancelled because of the Covid-19.
She said the pageant couldn’t raise funds because of the Covid-19.
“This partnership with IBS University means we can continue to empower our young women through education,” O’Rourke said.
“We can broaden our space for scholarships in areas like accounting, business, information technology and human resources this year.”
O’Rourke said they were honoured to co-ordinate the scholarships with the university starting with the publicity on their Facebook page.
“We believe in education to empower young women in PNG,” she said.
