Pagelio: Respect breeds success
The National, Wednesday 05th December, 2012
PRACTISING respect and obedience at an early stage of childhood is the basis of success in one’s life, an educationist says.
Speech day guest speaker Dr Joseph Pagelio congratulated more than 200 Port Moresby elementary two pupils and advised them that respect and obedience were important virtues needed to be a successful person in life.
Wearing their black, gold and red gowns, students at the Hohola Demonstration Elementary School passed ended the academic year and will continue to Grade 3 next year.
Pagelio congratulated the students, telling them the wearing of the gown at the graduation marked the beginning of the many graduations they would be in during their education career.
The school held its 15th Speech Day to close its 2012 academic year in style with the launching of its new annual graduation black, gold and red gowns.
The gowns were supplied by Saputra Investment Ltd, a locally-owned company and were shipped in from Indonesia early this month.
School head mistress Anna Aurere said Saputra was involved in their new-look silky school uniforms launched at the beginning of the year.
“This came with sets of sports uniforms all at a cost of just K100.”
She said the school would continue to improve its outlook by issuing other uniform materials such as hats and shoes to improve the dressing standard of its students.
Pagelio announced the school would introduce phonics next year to improve speaking and writing of English.
