TWO Papua New Guinea students participating in the PNG Junior Schoolboys competition have benefitted from an exchange programme with all expenses paid for by the Far West community near the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.
The duo – Ben Wemin and Patrick Inapero – spent four days during the Easter weekend in the highlands of New South Wales, participating in trial matches and sight-seeing parts of the countryside.
In the trials held last weekend, Wemin played for Nyngan in the U18 division while his compatriot, Inapero played in the U16 category.
Inapero, who was impressive for his side, scored three tries in the match and caught the eyes of the opposing coach.
After the match, he approached the PNG youngster and congratulated him for showing good sportsmanship.
The organisers have arranged a trip to the farm where they had been staying for three days this week.
They will also have the opportunity of visiting students at the Nyngan High School for two days.
The organisers have also said the concept was great and were eager to see more PNG schoolboys participating in similar programmes.
