Paita: K65mil programme fund went to one party
MONEY belonging to the special intervention programmes have been distributed to one particular party and its members, says a senior minister.
Finance Minister and acting National Planning Minister Rainbo Paita told Parliament that money within the special intervention programme (SIP) used amounting to K65 million and paid prior to Friday’s session.
Paita was responding to questions raised by Tawae-Siassi MP Dr Kobby Bomareo and Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu.
“The payments done was obviously an orchestrated move and I will make known payments which were done behind closed doors, and I will give exact figures to what district received what,” Paita said.
Numu, however, was not satisfied saying that when the Supplementary Budget and the Budget were done, there were supposed to be fair distribution to all, it was not to be given to one party, ethnic group, or one region.
“It was the budget for the country,” Numu said.
“The planning minister was deputy prime minister when the money went out, can the Finance Minister tell us which party it went to?
“The country has a right to know.”
Paita said the Supplementary Budget was passed with the special intervention programmes for district roads and infrastructure.
“The fund was allocated to members of the United Labour Party.
“One or two from other parties received payments however majority was paid to the one party, I can affirm that.”

How transparent was the allocation of the K65 million? We need to know more about this crooked deal by Sam Basil and his Useless Labour Party.
How can a particular party get K65m. ICAC is meant for such. Basil ran away for this reason. He should be dealt with accordingly.
65 million for one party? And the government can’t even procure a lousy cancer treatment machine for less then a million Kina. OC needs to looknintontgat matter.
Get OC to deal with Sam Basil. This is the type of official corruption such leaders do with public funds to secure their political members.Hospitals need this money more than you and your party members. Nogat sem bilon yu.
How can this be? Who vets such payments. We have loan funded projects already in serious breach of contractual obligations on GoPNG component and yet funds are committed to a party for what.
He’s just lying to blame someone. He should produce evidence than blowing hot air around during this horse trading time. People need to know truths and not hear-say..!
Kanex, you are top right…
Mr. Paita, enough of blaming each other and just making hear-say like you were not even away of where that money goes.. You are Finance Minister and you should know before releasing that huge amount (K65 mil) of money for the people of this country.
Also, assuming that if Sam Basil were still with the current government, this matter will not be raised. Trust me, if I am not wrong… Blame game goes on and on yet…. PNG Politicians at it’s best!!!!
Sam Basi is a crook and the worst political prostitue of our time. He is such a desperate oportunitist. Never trust him into the future. Blood nongut#
