THE Papua New Guinea Palais are aiming to get good results at the Asia-Pacific Sevens in Borneo, from February 28 to March 1, in the hope of qualifying for the World Sevens Series.

The 2011 Noumea Pacific Games bronze medallists are ranked fifth in Oceania and have been making progress at the international stage over the past two years. “We performed extremely well during the Noosa and the Gold Coast Sevens last year and went on to win the Plate final of the Coral Coast Sevens in Fiji, which we shows we are making progress,” captain Kymlie Karani, pictured, said.

She said the team was fortunate to get support from the corporate community while preparing for major international competitions in 2015.

“We have events like the Pacific Games, where we are looking to improving on our last effort. We have the Olympic qualifier in October that we are looking at performing to our best so that we can qualify for Rio 2016,” she said.
