FOUR members the national women’s sevens team (Palais) visited Lae yesterday where they went through clinic with students in the Morobe capital.
The clinic was made possible through their sponsor International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI) South Pacific.
The clinic started yesterday and will end today.
Yesterday’s programme saw the Palais teaching some passing drills to girls from Ahi villages and Butibam Primary School at The International School of Lae.
Today’s programme will see the team having a training session from 6:30-9am before going to Amba Demonstration and St Martins Primary School.
ICTSI South Pacific corporate services manager Rhandolph Calisin said they were focusing on community development.
“We have been involved in education and now sports, to add more value in children’s lives,” Calisin said.
“We are targeting the impacted communities of Labu and Ahi.”
He said after the clinic, they would explore more ways assist children.
“Our communities can expect more. They will be empowered to do more,” Calisin said.
Scrumhalf Taiva Lavai said they were happy to run the clinic to encourage children to excel in life.
“We are here to share what we have and hope you will be better players in the future,” Lava told the participants.
She said such programmes would inspire girls to become elite sportswomen.
“There’s a need for more support in the development of rugby in the country,” Lavai said.
