Pandemic forcing businesses to close: MP

BOGIA MP Robert Naguri says some businesses in Madang have been forced to close down because of the impact of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Naguri told Parliament that the global Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic had harmed businesses forcing closures.
He said the agri-business firm NGIP Agmark Limited recently closed down its operation in Madang because of the impacts of Covid-19.
“Economy in Madang is very bad.
“Most businesses have packed up and left,” Naguri said.
Treasurer Ian Ling- Stuckey in response said the Government had a plan to grow the economy but “it hasn’t been easy”.
He told parliament yesterday that the Government had ensured that its budget was focused on investment.
Ling Stuckey gave assurance that Government would continue to increase level of investments in coming years.
