PAGA Panthers played Tarangau to a 8-8 deadlock in the Port Moresby women’s rugby league competition at Ipi Park on Saturday.
The Panthers, with former PNG Palais Cathy Neap Talin, set up a try to halfback Yarowena Morofa to lead 4-0 at interval.
They were all over the opposition with good hit-ups but their lagging defence in the dying stages of the match denied them an upset over the competition leaders.
Tarangau reserve centre Kuman equalised 4- 4 in the opening minutes of the second stanza.
Their bigger players picked up their momentum but faced stiff resistance from the opposition line.
Paga retaliated with Linda Kereko scoring to lead 8-4 midway through the second half.
Tarangau’s scoring supremo Kuman, bagged her second four-pointer of the day a moment later to lock the match at 8-8.
In the other match between Sisters and Royals, a brawl ensued at full time with the PRL board citing both teams for review.
“Fights will not be entertained by the PRL board and severe penalty will be imposed,” said operations manager Meke Maino.
