PAP calls on Sir Michael to apologise
The National, Friday 30th March 2012
PEOPLE’S Action Party (PAP) executives have called on Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare to apologise to Maprik MP Gabriel Kapris for misleading the people of Maprik about their leader.
Endorsing his candidate for the Maprik Open electorate in the coming election, Sir Michael said Kapris jumped “from the canoe” to join the Peter O’Neill government.
“With the greatest respect to Sir Michael we believed that he is the skipper of a sinking ship. Our party leader has to jump to a rescue ship,” PAP general secretary Simon Bole said.
Bole said the PAP had been loyal to Sir Michael in the past but it was he and the National Alliance that caused instability in the previous government.
“The PAP leader cannot be in a sinking ship and National Alliance is a sinking ship.”
He said in his 40 years in politics, Sir Michael had not brought any major projects to Central Sepik, Maprik, and even to Angoram.
Bole said in the past nine
years as the representative of Maprik people, Kapris had brought many projects.
on the ground, including road sealing, water supply, university, health and schools.
