Parents and children

Letters

I WOULD like to share my view on the behaviour of Papua New Guinean parents, regardless of whether they are educated or not.
The word parent was derived from Latin stem parens, which means to bring forth, breed, multiply and guide.
However, it is sad to say that the true meaning of what is like to be a parent is yet to sink into the minds and hearts of Papua New Guinean parents.
The roles and responsibilities of being a parent is very crucial to our nation building.
Parents are the people who interact most with children.
It is understood that in our society today the parents are classified into two categories – the working class and the non-working class.
The working class are all absorbed with their working schedules, their titles, reputation and often they forget to exercise their parental roles.
Now to the non-working class, marketing is an activity that frequently steals the time for parental check.
I would like to end by reminding and urging all the parents to examine their roles and responsibilities again.
