Parents struggling with baby quadruplets

Main Stories

THE only quadruplets born at Angau Hospital in 2018 are into the third month of their lives but the family is finding it hard to cope with them.
The babies, three boys and a girl, yet to be named, were born on Nov 25, 2018.
They turned a month old on Christmas Day, and were discharged from the nursery the next day. The father, Philemon Tembil, 28, from Mendi in Southern Highlands says the family is still struggling to take care of the babies.
“We spent money on eight S26 tins of milk powder in just one month,” Tembil said.
“Life in the city is just too hard to raise that many children.
“Each tin costs about K54, and I realised that with four babies, one tin is empty in four days.”
Philemon’s wife Esther Tembil, 30, from Wampar in Huon Gulf district of Morobe, gave birth to twins back in 2014.
He said the four-year-olds Wilford (left) and Nelford would be leaving for Mendi to live with their grandparents so that he could help his wife take care of the babies.
