Parents told to motivate children to read

An official has urged parents to help motivate children to read more books.
Speaking during a recent visit to children at Porebada, Boera, Papa and Lealea villages in Central, Jazz Peters, from the PNG LNG Project, said reading would help the students in their growth and development.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage the children to keep reading to improve your understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and to hopefully consider a career in these fields,” Peters said.
ExxonMobil PNG, operator of PNG LNG Project, in partnership with Pacific Sports Media Marketing observed the recent Literacy Week through various activities at schools in Porebada, Boera, Papa and Lealea.
School students from grades 6 to 10 took part in the written expression quiz and group discussions centred around ‘making a change in the community’. It ended in gala days at each school with fun-filled activities such as health
games, face painting, reading corner and rugby league skills training.
The partnership with Pacific Sports Media Marketing is aimed at enhancing sports and physical education activities in schools.
It is combined with Buk Bilong Pikinini libraries in schools offered as a unique platform to promote Literacy Week.
