THE Mumeng district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church hosted a successful and trouble-free seventh Christ in Culture festival last weekend.
The festival was hosted by St Peter’s Parish in Bulolo, Morobe.
Papua New Guinea Forestry Authority assistant manager Arinaso Philisi, who closed the event on Sunday, commended the Mumeng district for ensuring that the enjoyed the three-day festival.
The festival, which attracted youths from 13 parishes, was held at the PNGFA premises in Bulolo from Friday to Monday.
Philisi said opportunists did not take advantage of such events in Bulolo to cause trouble, unlike others in the past.
“The event was totally trouble-free and I would like to commend the youths for the initiative taken during their stay, Philisi said.
“There was full cooperation, ownership and respect shown during the festival and PNGFA is really proud of the result of the event.
“Bulolo is reducing petty crimes  because youths are getting involved in church activities.
“We have allowed the event to be staged within the company premises where we had assisted with electricity at the festival ground.”
Philisi said the success of the festival meant that organisers and the PNGFA management could work together to stage future events.
