Parish ordains deacon

MEMBERS of the Catholic Church in Enga celebrated the ordination of a deacon last month.
More than 3,000 Catholic faithful from the five districts in the province gathered at Sari Holy Family Catholic church near Wabag town on Dec 13, to take part in the ordination mass.
Deacon Newman Kingi was ordained by the bishop of Wabag Dioceses Arnold Orowae as a new priest to serve the spiritual needs of the people in the province.
Bishop Orowe in his sermon said being a priest or a clergy of the church was not an easy task as many would think.
“This is a special call from God to be his servant and that comes with many challenges,” he said.
He said that being a priest was a special call to become God’s ambassador to spread his good news to the unreached far and wide and prepare for the coming of the Christ.
“Among the many, God chooses you to become his tool, instrument to bring peace, show mercy, humbleness, love, and care to other people,” Bishop Orowae said.
“When you follow this call, you must be prepared to leave all you have and whatever you are doing and go closer to God like apostles Peter and James did when they left their fishing boats and followed Christ when he called them to follow him.”
He said that as servants of God, they must establish a strong relationship with God and guide his people to him.
