Parish, priest say goodbye

Faith

THE Mary Queen of Peace Catholic parish at the Back Road in Lae farewelled Fr Mark Misiwasi last Sunday.
Misiwasi, from Malaita in the Solomon Islands, served from 2015 to 2018.
He is leaving PNG to study.
He was serving the Mary Queen of Peace and St Martins’ parishes.
“It’s a challenge for me, especially serving two parishes at a time,” Misiwasi said.
“Normally, it used to be two priests serving one parish.
“It was a new experience for me to start a new parish, especially in the block setting.
“But I lived with them, got to know them, chewed betel nut, ate nangu (sago) and was close to the people.
“We journeyed together sharing the gift of faith and I was exposed to many PNG cultures.
“I miss Lae and my parishioners already.”
