THE PNG Women in Business (PNGWIB) Foundation has been assured that a land will be found in the nation’s capital for the PNGWIB-proposed micro bank.
National Capital District (NCD) Governor Powes Parkop made the assurance this week when he presented K10,000 cheque to PNGWIB founder and businesswoman Janet Sape.
This was after Sape asked that NCD Commission (NCDC) allocate a land for the proposed micro bank.
She said although the idea of the micro bank was targeted at PNGWIB members, once established the micro bank would be opened for use by others, including organisations in the society as long as they were affiliated with PNGWIB.
“I am sure that he (Parkop) is going to make that commitment soon to give us some land and also for us to support the women,” she said.
She called on the government to honour its commitment to release the funds for the micro bank as she had already got the framework set up and the people to start it.
Sape made the comments while expressing gratitude to NCDC and Parkop for their support acknowledged Commerce and Industry Minister Gabriel Kapris for his continuous support for small to medium business activities in the country including support for oragnisations such as PNGWIB Foundation.
