Parkop, can you see the ripple effects of your action?
The National, Wednesday January 8th, 2014
NCD Governor Powes Parkop, what have you done to families and people of Mekeo and Kerema?
All Trade store at home are closed.
The PMVs are unable to repay back loans.
Mekeo and Kerema One Stop Shops in town have no customers.
Mekeo and Kerema people are now surviving on garden produce only.
Families are unable to purchase uniforms and stationary to send back their kids to school.
What are you going to do to the Mekeo, Kuni, Kairuku, inland Rigo, Kerema and Highlands people?
You have already deprived the rights of the Mekeo, Kuni, Kairuku, inland Rigo and Kerema people by taking away their only source of income.
Can you please come home to these places and see for yourself?
Please governor, reverse your decision and come up with an alternative rather than putting a total buai ban in the city.
You are earning a fat salary and have many perks.
In fact, you have at your disposal millions of kina, your kids are in the best schools, you have a comfortable home, house maids and a luxury car to drive.
Sure, you have earned it.
But that does not mean you overlook humanity?
We bac you when you say you have to keep the city clean.
With all your wisdom, are you not able to come up with an alternative to keep the city clean but let the people keep earning from betel nuts?
A smart leader will give his people the top priority.
Are you a top leader?
Think about us – the strugglers.
