Parlt adjournment breaches constitution

Letters

THE constitution prevails over any political interest.
The recent parliament adjournment has already breached the constitution as far as the 63 sitting days in a year at 3-months intervals is concerned.
It’s an orchestrated constitutional breach with existing court precedents against such a move.
Better still, the onus is now on the head of state, Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae, to issue directives to Speaker Job Pomat to reconvene parliament to meet the sitting requirements as stipulated in the constitution.
Failure may result in Sir Bob intervening to dissolve parliament and call for an early national general election.
The constitution is bigger than the selfish interest of any parliamentarian.
