THREE political parties have formed an alliance in preparation for the 2022 national elections.
Our Development Party (ODP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and PNG Country Party (PNGCP) will work together heading into the next election.
ODP and PNGCP signed an agreement earlier in the year during the change of government.
On Tuesday, ODP leader and Alotau MP Charles Abel and SDP leader and NCD Governor Powes Parkop made their allegiance official.
Abel said the signing marked a commitment to working together to provide stability for Prime Minister Marape, support constructive policy development and prepare for the next elections.
“The leaders in this alliance, together with PNGCP, represent three former deputy prime ministers and three governors and Members for large rural and urban electorates,” he said
“We are about action-oriented, accountable leadership.”
Parkop said: “Keeping the interest of the country, our people and Government in mind, we have decided that it’s good for us to work with similar parties and leadership with similar ideas.”
He said discussions about an amalgamation of the parties would continue.
