Partners urged to follow new development cooperation plan

FORMER National Planning and Monitoring Richard Maru says development partners should abide with the new development cooperation policy.
Maru said this while handing over the ministry to his successor Bulolo MP Sam Basil on Friday.
“We approved the new development cooperation policy, 50 per cent of aid must be on infrastructure development, road bridges and airports,” he said.
“Minister you must be firm on that policy, too many development partners want to run parallel programmes and decide on their own programmes.
“That must be a thing of the past. Stick to my tough stand and make sure donor fund priorities are identified in the Medium Term Development Plan 3.”
Maru said every month the department was supposed to receive K300mil for projects but that had not been the case due to the tight cash flow situation.
