Partnership enables firm to show products in Dubai

Business

A COMPANY producing and exporting vanilla is partnering with the PNG Expo 2020 team to promote its products at the Dubai World Exposition in October.
Kamapim Ltd managing director Dr Nancy Irwin said they wanted to produce the best quality bean for the international market through quality assurance production methods.
“PNG farmers can grow anything,” she said.
“They have the instinctive ability to grow any crop well.
“When I started the project, the quality of the beans were poor and full of fungus due to lack of processing knowledge.
“We saw a huge potential of the organically grown beans and started working with landowners through a cooperative production and marketing structure to improve quality.
“The company provides services to farmers and buy the beans directly, ensuring farmers are paid a fair price for their efforts.”
Dr Irwin said the beans were tested internationally and were consistently classed as A grade.
“I believe the cooperative production methods applied by our company could be used nationally as one of the models to improve quality for the export market as well as to maximise revenue for the farmers,” she said.
The company is looking forward to partnering with the PNG Expo 2020 Team in telling the PNG story and connecting with niche importers in Dubai.
