Party to adopt leadership style
The National, Wednesday March 2nd, 2016
THE Christian Democratic Party (CDP) will adopt a “servant-hood leadership” style if given the chance to lead the country after the 2017 general elections, party leader Kelly Naru says.
Naru, the Governor of Morobe, said that last Saturday during a fundraising dinner for the party.
The event was attended by members of the Lae business community, CDP supporters, landowners and members of the provincial assembly.
“CDP believes that servant-hood leadership is the key ingredient that has been missing much to the detriment of nation building,” Naru said.
“As mandated leaders, we are here to serve and not to be served-that is how servant-hood leadership gets its definition.
“Servant-hood leadership is a model based on humility and humbleness of our Lord Jesus Christ.
CDP is adopting servant-hood leadership in our strong belief that walking together and working together.
“We can make a bigger difference and achieve maximum impact.
“As the new motto of CDP says: we are your servants.”
Naru said Papua New Guinea was known for big-man politics and so there were many bosses in the government and no servants to serve.
He said leadership drove policies and development.
“Our vision is essentially about reaching the unreachable in the rural areas,” he said.
“The party raised more than K200,000 from the dinner.”
