THE Peoples National Congress Party will set up a provincial branch in East Sepik, according to Yangoru-Saussia MP Richard Maru.

Maru, who recently joined the party, said it had rural-focused policies which suited grassroots people.

He said the party’s national executive was working with people in the district who were keen on establishing the party in the province and district.

“Once the branch is set up, people from the district and province will pay a membership fee to become official members of the PNC party,” he said.

“We are happy with the recent election victory of Ambunti-Dreikirkir MP Ezekiel Anisi. The party currently has 50 members under the leadership of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

“This is the party that will bring significant development to the province and it is not a mistake for Yangoru-Saussia and Ambunti-Dreikirkir.”

He said the Government would build the K60 million Wewak wharf, K15m police mobile barracks in Yangoru, K20m west coast road sealing and K20m for the Wewak General Hospital.

“We were in power for nine years and yet the hospital is the most run-down,” he said.

“There is no wharf, no provincial headquarter after it was burnt down some 20 years ago.
