Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat has expressed confidence in the new executive committee of his Melanesian Liberal Party.
The new team has individuals who understand the political environment, the policies of the PNG government system and issues affecting the nation, Marat said.
He said he was happy and confident that MLP would move forward to deal with political issues and the concerns of the people of Rabaul.
He said the immediate priority of the new executives was to focus on educating the population of Rabaul district on issues affecting their lives and ways to make improvement as stated under the five pillars of the MLP policies.
MLP policies cover self-reliance, national sovereignty and economic empowerment within families.
The committee was named at the party’s convention last week, where president Levi Viliran, secretary Kepas Paon and treasure Pentacost Talvat were appointed.
Nelson Kiene was also appointed as MLP leader outside the national Parliament.
They were given the office under the rules, guidelines and requirements set by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.
The new executives replace former president Apelis ToPoe, secretary Gabriel Buakia and treasurer and former Kombiu LLG president Komit Kunai.
The party was established by Marat with the support of ToPoe and the late John Hereman a decade ago.
