THE PNG Trade Union Congress has applauded acting Prime Minister Sam Abal on his decision to sack two senior ministers.
“Anyone who shows disloyalty deserves to be terminated.” PNGTUC General Secretary John Paska said yesterday.
He said this was a critical period with the founding father of the nation still undergoing medical treatment and the elections next year and it was unnecessary to create political instability for a democratically peaceful election.
“That must not be derailed by those aspiring to be prime minister,” he said.
He said the PNGTUC had nothing personal against the two individuals, “but at this time when PNG is in serious need of stability, it is intolerable for any MP to demonstrate disloyalty to the government of the day”.
“We call on everybody to rally behind the acting prime minister’s leadership at this time.”
