PASTOR Peter Poiye has come to the aid of his PNG Bible church at Walume in  Imbonggu, Southern Highlands, with K10,000 to complete reconstruction work on their local church.
Congregation members watched as Poiye, who is also a businessman, gave the money to supplement contributions for the completion of the church.
Poiye said he had been blessed in his business and wanted to help the church.
He said churches continued to play an important role in the society and individuals, business houses and the government must help churches in need.
“PNG is a Christian country and we must work with churches as churches had done a lot to help this nation.”
He said youths who have been rejected by the education system must not turn to illegal activities but go back to their churches and work with them as churches will help you to be
better citizen of this nation.
Poiye is a sub-contractor with a road construction company in the province.
The church’s fund-raising committee chairman Kumbie Paye thanked Poiye for his donation which would supplement other contributions for the building project.
“This is the biggest money contributed by our own son towards the fund-raising activity for the reconstruction of the local church and the members of the church who are your fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters are thankful for your help,” he said.
The Walume local church will be hosting the church’s national men’s retreat in September and they hoped to raise more funds during that event to complete the church building.
