Pastor flees, villagers arrested after marijuana found

A PASTOR is on the run while a group of villagers including two women were taken in for questioning by Goroka police yesterday morning over the discovery of marijuana in two villages.
Police found the drugs at Watanung in the Daulo district of Eastern Highlands.
They arrested 10 people, including a mother of two and a 60-year-old woman.
Watabung police station commander Sergeant Allan Duong said they were now looking for Pastor Mathew Koima, of the Watabung Oneness Church, who they needed for questioning.
He allegedly fled when police from Goroka, Asaro and Watabung arrived in Kamabaraforo and Kenagi villages yesterday morning.
Police are also looking for two other men related to the two women arrested.
Duong said mother of two Tracy Kinsly, 24, who was accompanied by her one-year-old child, and 60-year-old Noxy Wasime, would be released when Kinsley’s husband and Waisime’s son, two key suspects, presented themselves for questioning by police. Chief Sergeant Mazuc Rubiang said police were committed to eradicating marijuana.
