A PASTOR says churches are playing a very important role in developing the lives of young people.
Gerehu National Evangelical Church of Papua New Guinea pastor Henry Haguai said churches were playing important roles in developing human resources.
He said this last Saturday when the church prepared a feast to welcome 10 members who got baptised. Eight were young men and women.
“In our country today, there are a lot of issues happening and nurturing young people in church is important to developing human resources,” he said.
Haguai said the 10 who got baptised had been in the church for more than two years.
“One must listen to God’s word, believe and then get baptised, which is based on Mark 16:16. So upon spiritual assessment they are eligible to be baptised,” Haguai said.
He said the church was open to everyone because God loved everyone.
Church leader Alphonse Tadabe said many youths were engaged in activities outside the churches.
He said the main idea was to help everyone, especially young people, believe in Christ so they could have a better future.
