Israel Minimbi, a pastor with the Assemblies of God church, has called on Papua New Guineans to vote in the 2012 general election for good leaders.
Minimbi said the people must not be fooled by candidates buying votes and choose leaders who had a passion for people and not those who loved material wealth.
“Leaders who love material wealth will divert all our resources to foreigners for personal gains, that’s why the resources do not trickle down fairly to the citizens of this country,” he said.
He said if the people of PNG made bad choices in the 2012 general election, “then we will encounter crisis”.
He said many countries ran their economy with few resources but despite all its resources the people of PNG were still poor.
Minimbi quoted US President Barrack Obama, saying “change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.
“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for, we are the change that we seek”.
“If we care for our nation, we must educate our people in the villages to make the right choices,” he said.
